Why AI Images Start to Feel Random

Human-Led AI Creative Direction and How to Avoid AI Slop and Keep Your Creative Voice (Why AI Images Start to Feel Random)

For the last few months, I’ve been working from La Fauna Café in Cuernavaca—laptop open, notebook beside me, coffee cooling slowly while the room hums with ordinary life.

This is where much of Aurelda has been taking shape: not only as a book world, but as a living creative ecosystem with images, character studies, visual canon, course ideas, and an expanding body of work at aurelda.com.

And the deeper I went into AI image generation, the clearer one thing became:

  • Most creators do not need more random prompts.
  • They need a way to direct AI without losing themselves.

Because maybe this has happened to you too. You generate an image you love, but the next one looks like it belongs to a different world. Your character’s face changes. Your brand suddenly feels glossy and generic. The mood drifts. The lighting shifts. The work starts to feel less like yours and more like everything else online.

That is the moment when AI stops feeling magical and starts feeling exhausting.

How to Avoid AI Slop Without Losing Your Voice

The phrase “AI slop” gets used a lot right now, and for good reason. People are tired of content that looks polished but empty—images with no emotional center, no authorship, no memory, no soul.

But the answer is not to reject AI. The answer is to lead it.

To avoid ai slop, you need a human-led creative process: one that begins with your intention, your visual language, your emotional tone, and your boundaries before the tool ever generates an image. That is the shift.

AI should not decide what your project feels like. You should.

The Missing Piece: Human-Led Creative Direction

When I started building Aurelda’s visual world, I quickly learned that consistency does not come from luck. It comes from canon.

Aurelda’s images work because they are guided by style locks, visual bibles, character rules, emotional tone, and a clear sense of what belongs—and what does not.

That is what I want to help you build for your own project. Not a random prompt pack. Not a folder of pretty images you cannot reproduce. A living visual system you can return to again and again.

Whether you are working on a book, brand, course, coaching practice, art project, podcast, character, world, or creative body of work, the question is the same:

So, what should your AI images remember?

What I’ve Been Building at La Fauna Café

How to Avoid AI Slop and Keep Your Creative Voice (What I’ve Been Building at La Fauna Café)

Aurelda has become my proof-of-work case study.

At La Fauna Café, in Cuernavaca, Mexico, I have been testing how AI can support a deeply human creative process—one rooted in story, resonance, memory, and visual coherence. The café became a kind of working studio: notebooks, screen tests, image prompts, revisions, mistakes, breakthroughs.

What emerged was a workflow I now call Human-Led AI Creative Direction.

It is simple in principle:

  • You define the soul of the project first.
  • Then you teach the tool how to serve it.

That means understanding your Creative North Star, your visual tone, your style boundaries, your “avoid” list, your references, and the reason an image feels right or wrong.

Once you have that, AI becomes less random. It becomes more responsive.
